# Actual Budget MCP Server

An MCP server that exposes Actual Budget's accounts, transactions, and reporting data as tools and resources so LLM assistants like Claude can query and manage a personal budget through natural language.

Actual Budget MCP Server connects the Actual Budget personal-finance API to the Model Context Protocol, so an LLM assistant can browse accounts and balances, look up transaction history, and create or update transactions and categories.

Beyond basic account access, it adds reporting tools for spending by category or payee, monthly summaries, budget-versus-actual comparisons, net worth over time, and category trends, plus custom reports and dashboards that mirror Actual's own reports section. The reporting tools return JSON with integer cent amounts and explicit sign conventions so results stay machine-readable.

It is built in TypeScript and runs as a standard MCP server that Claude and other LLM clients can connect to.
