AFT
A Rust-based tool layer for coding agents on OpenCode and Pi that replaces plain file reads and bash edits with symbol-aware code operations, semantic search, and background task management.
AFT sits between an agent's reasoning and the codebase as what its authors call a sensorimotor cortex: a sensory side that outlines a file, zooms into one symbol, searches by meaning or follows a call graph, so the agent sees structure instead of scrolling raw text; a motor side that edits a function by name, refactors across the workspace and organizes imports, with every change parsed, validated, formatted and backed up; and a brainstem side that runs background bash tasks and PTY sessions, compresses output, and offers health checks and an undo stack.
Rather than adding an entirely separate tool namespace, AFT hoists the host's built-in read, write, edit, bash and grep tool slots so the agent keeps calling familiar tools while they are backed by tree-sitter parsing and indexed search, adding its own family of tools on top. It ships as a Rust binary with adapters for OpenCode, Pi and the oh-my-pi extension, installed and auto-configured for detected harnesses with a single setup command.
