AI Engineering Course

A free, ongoing AI engineering curriculum covering machine learning foundations through LLMs, fine-tuning, RAG, AI agents, inference, evaluation and safety, with a written blog and video for most lessons.

AI Engineering Course

This is a free and continually expanding course covering AI engineering step by step, from machine learning and neural network foundations through transformers, how LLMs generate text, modern LLM architecture, training and fine-tuning, prompt and context engineering, vector search and retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents and agentic systems, LLM inference engineering, evaluation and observability, AI safety and security, multimodal and generative models, and AI infrastructure and system design.

Every lesson includes a detailed written blog post and many come with an accompanying video. It is maintained by the founder of Outcome School, who also teaches a paid live version of the material.

  • BootLife

    github.com

Conway's Game of Life implemented to run directly from a 512-byte x86 boot sector in assembly, using VGA memory itself as the simulation grid.

  • A technical blog post deriving the Y combinator as a composition of combinator birds in an array language, and examining how eager evaluation changes fixed-point recursion compared with the usual lazy telling.

  • System Design Atlas

    atlas-sysdes.vercel.app

A free reference of worked system design problems with interactive architecture diagrams, covering ranked designs such as a feed, a chat app, a URL shortener, and a rate limiter, plus pages on the technologies behind them.
