# AIGX

An open, benchmark-tested context format that stores a codebase's AI-agent rules and a per-file boundary index in a centralized .aigx directory without injecting anything into source files.

AIGX stores a codebase's rules for AI coding agents in a centralized .aigx directory with a per-file boundary index that targets the relevant rules, forbidden imports and gotchas to each file, and injects nothing into the source code itself. The project reports that it is the only context format it knows of that has been validated in a controlled benchmark, ranking first on both a weaker and a stronger model across 60 trials, while noting that the top formats were a statistical tie on the composite score.

A single command scaffolds a genome and wires it into whichever AI agent is chosen, such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, Windsurf, Aider, or a generic AGENTS.md file. A user then fills in a keystone file listing project files, an architecture rules file and a product file, and validates the result with a lint command.

It ships three independent, conformance-tested reference implementations in Node, Python and Rust, installable from npm, PyPI or crates.io. The spec is CC-BY-4.0 licensed and the tools are MIT licensed.
