Algernon

Algernon is a web server that bundles HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 (QUIC) support, a Lua and Teal scripting environment for handlers, Markdown and templating engines such as Pongo2 and Amber, and Sass and GCSS preprocessing, along with JSX and TypeScript bundling through esbuild, all in one executable.

Its database backend can be its own built-in BoltDB store, or Redis, Valkey, PostgreSQL, SQLite, MariaDB, MySQL, or MSSQL, and it also integrates with Ollama for running local LLMs. Certain filenames in a served directory are treated specially: an index.lua file is run as a handler, index.md is rendered as HTML, and similar conventions apply to Pongo2 and other template files.

It is written in Go and released under the BSD-3-Clause license.
