# Altium MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol server that lets Claude query and manipulate Altium Designer PCB projects programmatically, from creating schematic symbols and footprints to placing parts and checking clearances.

Altium MCP Server provides a Python interface to Altium Designer through the Model Context Protocol, letting an AI assistant such as Claude query and manipulate PCB designs programmatically. Example commands include running all output jobs, creating a schematic symbol or a multi-part symbol for a chip such as a quad op-amp from an attached datasheet while following existing library conventions and placement rules, creating a PCB footprint for a surface-mount part and adding it to an open library, duplicating a layout, listing all parts by manufacturer or all IC designators in a design, and placing selected parts on a PCB following best practices before verifying clearances.

It installs as a Claude Desktop extension file, or can be installed by pointing Claude Code at the repository and asking it to install it. Pin placement rules used when generating symbols are read from an editable text file so they can be adjusted to a user's own conventions.

It is written in Pascal, matching Altium's own scripting language.
