# BaseAI

An archived TypeScript-first framework for building serverless, composable AI agents with memory and tools, developed on the local machine and deployed with one command, now succeeded by a set of AI primitives.

BaseAI is a framework for building serverless and composable AI agents with memory and tools, developed locally with integrated agentic tools and retrieval-augmented memory. A new project is initialized with a CLI command that creates a `baseai` directory holding a configuration file, memory, pipes, and tools folders; a pipe is a custom AI agent defined as an API, created interactively and then imported and run from application code, streaming its response events.

The project is now archived in favor of a successor called Langbase AI Primitives: the maintainers concluded that frameworks become blockers in a fast-moving space and that primitives such as memory, pipes, and agents, usable from any language as APIs with TypeScript and Python SDKs, work better, with BaseAI kept in the repository as an example of a framework built from those primitives.

It supports API keys for providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Gemini, Grok, Groq, Mistral, Perplexity, and Together AI.
