# blend-ai

An MCP server for Blender that exposes over 180 tools for modelling, materials, shading, animation and rendering, letting Claude or any MCP client control Blender through natural language.

blend-ai lets an AI assistant such as Claude control Blender through the Model Context Protocol, covering modeling, mesh editing, materials, shader nodes, lighting, cameras, animation, rendering, sculpting, UV mapping, physics, geometry nodes, rigging, curves, 3D-print checking and file I/O across more than 25 modules.

Beyond exposing tools, it guides the model toward professional results with expert prompts on topics such as topology best practices and studio lighting, a fast viewport screenshot loop with auto-critique feedback, and structured mesh quality reports covering non-manifold edges, loose vertices and duplicate vertices. It proactively suggests relevant Blender extensions such as Bool Tool or LoopTools when a task would benefit from them.

Arbitrary code execution through the tool is sandboxed, blocking dangerous imports and builtins while allowing safe Blender operations, and the server detects when Blender is rendering and queues commands rather than colliding with it. It ships as a Blender Extension for Blender 4.2 and newer, written in Python and licensed under AGPL-3.0.
