ByteChef

ByteChef is an open-source platform for AI agents, workflow automation and API integration, meant to be self-hosted or embedded inside another product. It brings AI agents and automated workflows together in one orchestration layer with centralized management, positioned as an Apache 2.0 licensed alternative to tools such as n8n and Zapier.

A drag-and-drop AI Agent component runs the full agent loop, model call, tool selection, execution and observation, with streaming and structured output, as one step inside a durable workflow, so a run that fails or pauses for human approval resumes from that step instead of restarting. The same agent capability that ships in the open-source core is also available through an embedded edition for building AI features into another company's own product.
