Chainlit

Chainlit is a Python framework for building conversational AI applications. A project is written as a small Python script and run through the Chainlit command-line tool, which opens the application in a browser for interactive use and testing.

A public cookbook shows Chainlit applications built with tools and services such as OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LlamaIndex, ChromaDB and Pinecone. The project is open source under the Apache 2.0 license.

As of May 2025 the original Chainlit team stepped back from active development, and the project is now maintained by a community group of maintainers under a formal maintainer agreement, who are responsible for code review, releases and security.
