Cheetah

Cheetah is an on-device streaming speech-to-text engine from Picovoice that transcribes audio locally in real time, without sending voice data to the cloud.

Cheetah

Cheetah is a streaming speech-to-text engine that runs entirely on-device, so audio never leaves the machine during transcription. It is built to be compact and computationally efficient, and runs across Linux, macOS, Windows, Android, iOS, Raspberry Pi and in the browser via Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, with SDKs for Python, C, iOS, Android, Flutter, React Native, Node.js, Java, .NET and Web.

It currently supports English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, with additional languages available to commercial customers. Deploying it requires a Picovoice AccessKey, which authenticates and authorizes SDK usage and enforces account usage limits; validating the key needs an internet connection even though the speech recognition itself runs fully offline.

It is written in Python and licensed under Apache-2.0.
