Cheshire Cat AI (Stregatto)
An educational AI agent microservice designed to be easy to understand and extend, used mainly to teach how AI agents work and to let institutions publish their own agents on the web.
Cheshire Cat AI (Stregatto) is an AI agent framework designed from the ground up to be easy to understand and extend, through vibe coding or more deliberate agentic engineering. Its main use case is education and research, and many companies and institutions use it to publish agents on the web.
Version 2, described in the repository as unstable alpha software still under heavy development, is installed into an empty folder with a package initializer and a single dependency-add command, after which running the command-line entry point starts a local web user interface and a REST API playground. The project is currently transparent about not being ready for production use, with expected breaking changes and rough edges. Contributions are accepted through issues that are first assigned before a pull request is opened.
It is written in Python and released under the GPL-3.0 license; its logo and name remain the property of its founder and maintainer.
