Claude Desktop (Tauri Edition)

An unofficial, community desktop client for chatting with Claude and other LLM providers, built with Tauri, Rust and React, with local chat history, MCP tools and multi-agent orchestration.

Claude Desktop (Tauri Edition)

Claude Desktop (Tauri Edition) is a personal or community desktop application that wraps AI chat APIs in a native window. It is explicitly not an official Anthropic product and is under active development. A Rust backend built on Tauri 2.0 handles filesystem access, process management, SQLite storage and HTTP proxying, while a React 19 frontend provides the chat interface, settings and other views.

It supports multiple providers, including Anthropic, OpenAI and DeepSeek, with streaming responses, persisted chat history and a memory system that surfaces related past conversations. It connects to Model Context Protocol servers so the AI can call external tools, coordinates multiple agents on subtasks in parallel, and supports user-extensible skill modules and slash commands. Additional panels include a built-in terminal, a code diff viewer and runner, a file explorer, a knowledge base, a multi-step web research panel, and document, GitHub and analytics views.

Builds a local coding-agent team on top of Ollama and OpenCode by detecting the machine's hardware, recommending models for seven specialist roles, and testing whether each assigned model can actually use tools, edit a repository and pass verification.
