# CodeAlmanac

CodeAlmanac is a living wiki for a codebase, written and kept current by AI coding agents, that captures the decisions, invariants, past failures and cross-file workflows source code alone cannot express, stored as Markdown and reviewed through Git like any change.

CodeAlmanac gives AI coding agents the context that code alone cannot hold: why a system is shaped the way it is, what has broken before, which invariants matter, and how a workflow crosses files and services. The wiki itself is plain Markdown stored in the repository, indexed locally, and reviewed in Git like any other change; it currently supports macOS with Codex or Claude Code.

After installing it and initializing a wiki for a repository, a user can search and open wiki pages from the command line or a local web viewer. Three local scheduled jobs do the ongoing work: one scans recent Codex and Claude conversations every few hours and queues useful knowledge for the wiki, one reviews the wiki roughly daily for stale or poorly connected knowledge, and one checks for and installs CLI updates; all of this runs and stays locally. Setup asks about anonymous telemetry, which never includes code, paths, prompts or transcripts, and can be declined.
