codex-keysmith

A Codex instruction installer that previews changes before writing them, deploys a versioned instruction set into Codex without touching its software or credentials, and can be fully reverted.

codex-keysmith

codex-keysmith installs a revocable set of instructions into Codex: it shows the plan before writing anything, and only writes after confirmation. Installing it changes how conversations started after installation behave in that Codex configuration; it does not modify the Codex software itself and does not read account credentials or API keys, and only one instruction set is installed by default.

Installation runs from a single downloadable release script, or from a source checkout using a differently named script, and needs Python 3.10 or newer; macOS and Linux are the primary supported platforms, with Windows deployment still in testing. The same script can restore the previous hooks, fully uninstall the instructions, or reactivate a previously installed set, always previewing the plan before confirming. Companion tools in the same series apply the same preview-then-install approach to Claude Code and Grok Build.
