Cognithor · Agent OS

A local-first, self-hosted operating system for autonomous agents, running on Ollama or LM Studio with no required cloud calls, and reachable through 18 channels including a terminal, a web UI, Telegram and Discord.

Cognithor · Agent OS

Cognithor is a pre-1.0 beta agent platform that runs primarily on local models, with cloud providers as an optional addition rather than a requirement, and no telemetry or account of its own. It talks through 18 channels, remembers past conversations through a six-tier memory system with hybrid search across four channels, and can search the web, edit files, run shell commands and control a browser.

It supports 19 LLM providers and 145 MCP tools across 30 modules, a knowledge vault, voice, browser automation, computer use, cross-platform social listening, and a signed pack registry for extensions. The maintainers describe the project as under active development with an extensive test suite but not yet used in production, with some interface strings still in German, and recommend waiting for a 1.0 release for non-technical users.

It requires Python 3.12 or newer and is licensed under Apache-2.0.
