Company as Code
An open standard for writing down how a company works, as plain markdown files in git with a small typed header connecting goals, roles, processes and policies into a graph that a command-line tool validates like code.
Company as Code is an open standard for writing down a company's goals, roles, processes and policies once, as plain markdown files kept in git, so that both people and AI agents can read and follow them instead of the knowledge living only in chat messages and out-of-date wiki pages. Each file has a small typed header connecting it to others, for example a process file that names the role that owns it, the goal it serves and the policy it follows, with ordinary language below the header.
A companion command-line tool called charta checks every reference in the header graph and fails validation if a reference points to something that does not exist, shows what a proposed change would affect before it happens, and can render the whole set of files as a graph in Mermaid or Graphviz DOT format. It installs through Homebrew or npm, ships prebuilt binaries, and can also be built from source with Cargo.
