# CopilotKit

A frontend SDK for building agent-native applications: generative UI, shared state, and human-in-the-loop workflows for React, Angular, Vue and React Native, plus Slack and Microsoft Teams.

CopilotKit lets the same agent power a web app, a mobile app, and a team's Slack or Microsoft Teams workspace through one frontend layer. Its core features include a customizable chat UI with streaming and tool calls, backend tool rendering where an agent's backend tool call returns a UI component rendered on the client, generative UI that agents can create and update at runtime, a shared state layer both agents and UI components can read and write in real time, human-in-the-loop pauses for user confirmation or edits, and rich threads that persist across reloads, devices and sessions.

An optional CopilotKit Intelligence layer adds durable threads, semantically recalled user memories, and automatic learning where completed conversation threads become reviewed, reusable skills, offered as a hosted platform or self-deployed. CopilotKit also maintains the AG-UI Protocol, which it says has been adopted by other projects including LangChain.

It installs into an existing project through a CLI onboarding command, and is written in TypeScript under the MIT license.
