Data API builder is a CRUD data API engine that creates secure REST and GraphQL endpoints, and MCP tools for AI clients, for a connected database without writing backend code. It runs as a container and can be deployed on Azure, another cloud provider, or on-premises infrastructure.
It supports Azure SQL, SQL Server, Azure Synapse SQLDW, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL as backend databases, and is configured with a command-line tool that reads a connection string and a set of entity definitions to expose. It is intended for developers who want integrated tooling and telemetry alongside the generated API rather than hand-writing CRUD endpoints.
It is written in C# and released under the MIT license.
