# DataScienceProjects

A collection of data science and statistics projects and tutorials in R and Python, covering Bayesian methods, probability theory, and applications such as football analytics and betting models, each paired with a written explanation.

DataScienceProjects is a collection of data science and statistics projects, most of them written up as accompanying articles. Football-related projects apply Bayesian statistics to compare player penalty-taking ability, use Poisson processes for match prediction, test betting strategies against a Poisson model, and revisit classic hypothesis-testing debates.

Other projects cover general statistical theory, including probabilistic arguments applied outside sports, worked examples of Bayes' theorem, and the Rule of Three applied to estimating the probability of rare events in areas such as voting, vaccine development, and quality monitoring.

The code is written in Python or R depending on which language's tools suit a given project, such as scraping in Python or data manipulation with dplyr piping in R.
