# DDGS

A Python metasearch library that aggregates text, image, video, news, and book search results from services such as Bing, Brave, DuckDuckGo, and Google, usable as a library, CLI, API server, or MCP server.

DDGS, Dux Distributed Global Search, queries multiple underlying search engines, including Bing, Brave, DuckDuckGo, Google, Mojeek, Startpage, Yandex, Yahoo, and Wikipedia, with a smaller set of backends for images and videos, through one consistent interface, and can also extract content from a given URL. It is available as a Python library with methods for text, image, video, news, and book search, as a command-line tool, as a FastAPI-based HTTP API server with Swagger and ReDoc documentation, and as an MCP server exposing the same searches as tools for clients such as Cursor or Claude Desktop.

The API and MCP servers can be run in the foreground or detached, optionally behind a SOCKS5 proxy, and the project ships a Docker Compose setup and a start script for running the API server. It is MIT licensed.
