# DeepSeek V4 for Copilot Chat

A VS Code extension that adds DeepSeek V4 models to the GitHub Copilot Chat model picker, so a user keeps Copilot's agent mode and tools while paying DeepSeek directly for inference.

This extension adds DeepSeek models, including V4.1 Flash and V4 Pro, to the model picker inside GitHub Copilot Chat, using the user's own DeepSeek API key rather than replacing Copilot's interface. Because it plugs into Copilot's native model-provider API, the rest of Copilot keeps working unchanged: agent mode, tool calling, file edits, terminal access, instructions and skills, and MCP.

Image attachments are handled either natively, for the V4.1 Flash and Flash Vision Exp models, or through a configurable Vision Proxy that describes an image with a vision-capable model before passing that description to the main DeepSeek model. It also supports DeepSeek's thinking mode with adjustable reasoning effort, and it is written in TypeScript under the MIT license.
