# DuckDuckGo Search MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol server that gives an LLM web search and page-fetching capability through DuckDuckGo, with rate limiting and results formatted for language-model consumption.

This MCP server provides web search and content-fetching tools backed by DuckDuckGo. Its search tool returns formatted, rate-limited results, and its content-fetching tool retrieves a web page and extracts its text for an LLM to read; long result URLs are shortened into reference tokens that the fetch tool accepts directly, saving context space.

It is configurable through environment variables for SafeSearch level, default region and language, a custom CA certificate bundle for use behind a TLS-intercepting proxy, and separate rate limits for search and fetch requests, using either a sliding window or a token-bucket strategy. It installs from PyPI and is written in Python under the MIT license.
