# Embedded Template Library (ETL)

A C++ template library that provides STL-like fixed-size containers and utilities for embedded systems, with no dynamic memory allocation.

The Embedded Template Library complements, rather than replaces, the C++ Standard Template Library for embedded systems where dynamic memory allocation is discouraged or prohibited. It provides containers and other components with fixed or maximum sizes defined at compile time, so memory requirements are fully known ahead of time, along with APIs that closely resemble the STL's for familiar usage.

It backports selected features from later C++ standards for toolchains that only support C++03, while remaining compatible with any compiler supporting C++03 or later, up through current standards. It has no dependency on the STL, never uses the heap, and has been actively maintained on GitHub since 2014 under the MIT license.
