F.R.I.D.A.Y
A local-first, self-hosted personal AI agent designed to stay useful across projects, devices, sessions and restarts, rather than behave like a one-shot chatbot.
F.R.I.D.A.Y combines a plugin-first agent runtime with durable sessions and background jobs, persistent memory, scheduling, multi-channel messaging, secure tool execution, MCP integrations, encrypted secrets and observability. A user can message the same agent from a configured channel, hand it work that takes time, continue elsewhere, and come back later, or schedule future work in their own timezone.
Its self-improvement path is reuse-first: before writing new code, it inspects existing tools, actions, typed plugin capabilities and MCP options to see whether a missing capability can be covered without new code. When code is required, changes are isolated, evaluated and verified before being promoted, rather than treating the running system as an unrestricted rewrite target.
The documentation states that F.R.I.D.A.Y can execute code, invoke tools, reach external services and mutate files when permitted, and recommends reviewing permissions, using sandboxing, protecting credentials and not exposing trusted channels to untrusted users.
