Fabric
A node-based creative coding environment for macOS for interactive 3D graphics, image and video processing, and real-time visual effects, inspired by Apple's discontinued Quartz Composer.
Fabric is a visual, node-based environment for creative coding, 3D content authoring, and image and video processing and analysis, inspired by the design of Apple's discontinued Quartz Composer. It provides a node-based authoring interface for building interactive visuals without necessarily writing code, an SDK for loading a common interchange file format, and a plugin architecture for extending Fabric with custom nodes written in code.
Documents built in Fabric, similar to Quartz Composer compositions, can be reused, loaded into the Fabric runtime, or embedded in third-party applications, and Fabric itself is also a developer environment for rendering high-fidelity visual output procedurally using modern GPU techniques such as physically based rendering, scene graphs, lighting and shadows, live shader editing with hot reloading, GPU compute, and real-time machine-learning-based segmentation and keypoint detection.
It is built on the Satin 3D rendering engine and the Lygia shader library, requires macOS 15 and Xcode 15 or later, and is written in Swift under the BSD-3-Clause license.
