Gear Framework

A framework-independent way to specify portable multi-agent systems in a single YAML format and generate runnable code for many popular agent frameworks.

Gear Framework

GEAR describes agents, modules and workflows in a framework-independent .gear.yml format, then converts a project written in that format into runnable Python for a chosen target framework, including CrewAI, Google ADK, LangGraph, the OpenAI Agents SDK, Microsoft Agent Framework, Strands Agents, PydanticAI, AutoGen and Haystack. A command-line tool initializes a new project, validates a .gear.yml file, and converts it to one or all supported targets, writing the generated files to a dist folder.

A bundled Studio, started with a serve command, provides a visual interface backed by an OpenAI model, defaulting to a smaller model with two alternative models selectable through configuration.

It requires Python 3.10 to 3.13 and is released under the MIT license.

  • local-coder

    github.com

Builds a local coding-agent team on top of Ollama and OpenCode by detecting the machine's hardware, recommending models for seven specialist roles, and testing whether each assigned model can actually use tools, edit a repository and pass verification.
