# Getting Started with GitHub Copilot

A self-paced, under-one-hour GitHub Skills exercise that walks a developer through using GitHub Copilot to explain, plan, write and review code on a sample extracurricular-activities website.

Getting Started with GitHub Copilot is a GitHub Skills exercise aimed at developers of any experience level who want to speed up their coding workflow with GitHub Copilot. It runs in a preconfigured Codespace in the browser and is designed to take less than an hour.

Working through the exercise, a learner uses different ways of interacting with Copilot to explain, write, plan and develop code, applying it to update a fictional school's extracurricular-activities website, and finishes by using Copilot to summarize and review their own pull request. It assumes completion of an earlier introductory GitHub exercise and basic familiarity with VS Code and coding.

The exercise is copied into the learner's own account or organization as a new repository, after which automated jobs prepare the first lesson.
