# GhostDesk

An MCP server that gives an AI agent a full graphical desktop it can see and control, moving the mouse, typing, launching apps and running shell commands, in a sandboxed virtual desktop or on the machine in front of you.

GhostDesk exposes one consistent MCP tool surface, such as mouse and app-launch controls, across Linux, macOS and Windows, so an agent can drive whichever desktop it is given without knowing which platform it is on. On Linux it runs as a Docker container driving a disposable virtual desktop through Wayland's virtual pointer protocol, Sway IPC and grim; on macOS and Windows it runs as a native binary that drives the real desktop in front of the user, with no sandbox around it there.

A single Docker command starts a container image bundling Firefox, a terminal, a text editor and a calculator with passwordless sudo, reachable over plain HTTP with no password by default, which the documentation describes as fine only for a trusted local machine and points to a separate guide for adding TLS and authentication before wider use.

It is written in Rust.
