Git Auto Commit (gac)

A command-line tool that generates git commit messages with an LLM, analyzing the actual code change to explain why it was made, with support for more than 35 model providers.

Git Auto Commit (gac)

gac (Git Auto Commit) is a command-line tool that replaces a manually written commit message with one generated by a large language model, analyzing the structure, logic and intent of a change rather than just its diff text.

It recognizes refactoring, bug fixes, features and breaking changes to write a contextually appropriate message, filters out generated files and dependency noise, and can group unrelated changes into multiple logical commits. It supports more than 35 model providers, including Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, Mistral, Groq and several OAuth-based coding-plan providers, and lets the user choose the model, provider and language.

Message formats include a one-line conventional-commit summary, a standard summary with bullet points, a verbose explanation of motivation and impact, the classic 50/72 line-length format, and an optional Signed-off-by line for Developer Certificate of Origin compliance.
