Gitagent
Gitagent is a git-native AI agent framework in which an agent's identity, rules, memory, tools and skills are all version-controlled files inside a git repository, so an agent can be forked, branched and diffed like code.
Gitagent represents an AI agent entirely as files in a git repository instead of scattering configuration through application code: agent.yaml holds model and runtime configuration, SOUL.md holds personality and identity, RULES.md holds behavioral constraints, a memory folder holds git-committed memory with full history, a tools folder holds declarative YAML tool definitions, a skills folder holds composable skill modules, and a hooks folder holds lifecycle hooks. Because the agent is a repository, forking an agent, branching a personality, or diffing its rules and memory all use ordinary git operations.
It installs with a one-line script or via npm as a slim CLI and SDK, with an optional separate voice-and-web-UI package kept apart from the core so the core package stays small enough to pass supply-chain scanners. Running an agent needs only a model provider API key and a target directory; Gitagent scaffolds the rest.
It is written in Rust and licensed under MIT.
