GitHub1s

GitHub1s is a browser-based code explorer built on VS Code that lets a developer browse a repository's files, search its code, and review changes without cloning it locally. Adding 1s immediately after github in a repository's URL opens it in GitHub1s; the same approach works for GitLab repositories at gitlab1s.com and for published npm packages at npmjs1s.com.

Public repositories can be browsed without signing in, subject to the underlying GitHub or GitLab service's own access and rate limits, while private repositories require connecting a GitHub or GitLab account or supplying an access token. Within the interface, a user can switch branches or tags, inspect commit and file history, and review pull or merge request diffs; remote repositories are accessed read-only.

A built-in AI panel, opened from the secondary side bar, can give an overview of a repository, explain a selected file or code selection, and answer follow-up questions, using a model endpoint the user configures that accepts requests directly from the browser.
