# GitReverse

A web app that turns a public GitHub repository into a single synthetic prompt that could be pasted into an AI coding tool to recreate the project from scratch.

GitReverse turns a public GitHub repository into a single, conversational prompt that someone could paste into Cursor, Claude Code, Codex or a similar tool to recreate the project from scratch. It pulls the repository's metadata, a depth-one file tree and its README, then uses an LLM to write one short prompt grounded in that context.

A user pastes a GitHub URL or an owner/repo pair on the home page, or opens a shareable link at that same path directly; GitHub-style tree URLs on the site redirect to the matching project page instead of failing. The reverse flow currently uses the whole repository; scoping the prompt to one subfolder is planned for later.

The quick-reverse endpoint can call Grok, OpenRouter, Azure OpenAI, Google AI Studio or a sponsored OpenAI-compatible gateway, selected by an environment variable or chosen automatically from whichever API key is configured. It is built with Next.js, React, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS, with optional Supabase and Stripe integration.
