# IDA Pro MCP

An MCP server that bridges the IDA Pro disassembler with AI assistants, giving them tools to read and edit binaries for reverse engineering, though the author now recommends the official Hex-Rays MCP server instead.

IDA Pro MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that bridges IDA Pro, a disassembler and binary-analysis tool, with language models, letting a connected AI assistant work inside IDA Pro for reverse engineering. The author now recommends using the official Hex-Rays IDA MCP server in its place, though this project remains available.

It requires Python 3.11 or later and IDA Pro 8.3 or later, IDA Free is not supported, and works with a wide range of MCP-capable clients, including Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot CLI, Gemini CLI, VS Code and several other editors and agent harnesses. It can be installed as a plugin through dedicated Claude Code and Codex plugin marketplaces, through a slash command inside Kimi Code, or configured manually from inside the IDA graphical interface, though that installation path is being phased out in favor of a successor project.

Running it also requires idalib to be activated and the uv Python tool installed on the system.
