Image Extender

Image Extender is an open-source web app that extends a photo in any direction with AI-generated pixels blended into the original, and also generates matching sets of 2D game art such as parallax backgrounds, autotiles and sprite sheets.

Image Extender

Image Extender is a small open-source web application for AI outpainting and 2D game-art generation. It extends an image in any of four directions using Google's Gemini image models through OpenRouter, then blends the seam between the original and generated pixels with a Poisson-blending pipeline and a variant picker that chooses the best of three results.

Beyond the outpainting mode, it includes a Parallax Studio that builds a layered sidescroller background with a scrolling preview, a Tile Studio that generates a 13-tile autotile set as one sprite sheet, a Sprite Studio that generates character animation sheets for a chosen body plan, and a Props Studio that generates standalone decoration sprites. Users supply their own OpenRouter API key, which stays in the browser.
