# KeenASR Android Proof of Concept App

A proof-of-concept Android app demonstrating the KeenASR speech-recognition SDK, showing how to build a language model and decoding graph from a chosen set of phrases and run on-device speech recognition against it.

This proof-of-concept app ships with a trial build of the KeenASR SDK for Android, which stops the app 15 minutes after launch; a version without that limit requires contacting the vendor. It defines a set of phrases, editable in `MainActivity.java`, that are used to build a language model and its decoding graph for on-device recognition, a process that is normally a one-time step and can be bundled with an app ahead of time for large-vocabulary dictation tasks.

Because Android restricts microphone access for a backgrounded app, the SDK must be initialized while the phone is unlocked; deploying and launching the app from Android Studio on a locked phone will not initialize it correctly, unlike a normal launch by tapping the app icon.
