# libpd

An embeddable version of Pure Data that lets applications run Pure Data patches as an audio synthesis engine, with bindings for several languages.

libpd packages Pure Data as an embeddable audio synthesis library, so a host application can load and run Pure Data patches instead of running the standalone Pure Data program. Because the underlying Pure Data source is included as a git submodule, the project must be cloned with its submodules rather than downloaded as a zip archive, or the build will be missing core Pure Data source files.

The repository is organized around a pure-data submodule containing Pd Vanilla and its standard externals, a libpd_wrapper directory with the core glue code, and separate directories with bindings and samples for C++, C#, Java, Objective-C and Python. Companion repositories provide integration with Processing, iOS and Android.

It is written in Objective-C.
