LMOps

A Microsoft research initiative on fundamental technology for building AI products with large language and multimodal models, covering prompt optimization, long context, alignment, faster inference and domain adaptation.

LMOps

LMOps is a Microsoft research initiative on the general technology needed to build AI products with large language models and multimodal models. It groups its work into themes including better prompts, such as automatic prompt optimization, extensible prompts and in-context example retrieval; longer context, through structured prompting and length-extrapolatable transformers; LLM alignment using feedback; faster inference through lossless acceleration; and adapting a model to a domain.

Related Microsoft projects linked from the repository include unilm, for self-supervised pretraining across tasks, languages and modalities, and torchscale, for scaling Transformer architectures. The repository mainly links research papers, with some accompanying code and model releases.

    github.com

A continual learning language model that trains from scratch on a single 8 GB VRAM GPU, assembling its own architecture and adapting its size to the hardware and data available rather than shipping as a fixed pretrained model.

  • An open-source contrastive-embedding pipeline that maps technical CVE vulnerability descriptions to formal cybersecurity compliance controls in NIST SP 800-53 and CMMC, published with its model generation, fine-tuning and evaluation code.

  • peekaboolean

    github.com

A small vision-language model, fine-tuned with LoRA on a 500-million-parameter backbone, that answers typed multiple-choice, ordinal-score and yes/no questions about an image with calibrated probabilities, in about 400 milliseconds on a laptop.
