# Lux

A Redis-compatible database engine that also provides typed relational tables, native vector search, time series, realtime subscriptions, streams, and optional application authentication in one runtime.

Lux is a database engine meant to cover the parts of an application's backend that are usually split across several services: tables, cache, vector search, realtime UI state, jobs, metrics, and queues. It speaks the RESP protocol, so existing Redis clients and tools such as BullMQ can connect to it directly, while also offering typed relational tables, native vector search, time series, realtime key subscriptions, streams, snapshots, and write-ahead-log recovery beyond what a cache alone provides.

Commands are mapped across independent in-process shards and executed on the Tokio async runtime, so operations touching one shard can proceed without waiting on commands against other shards; multi-key commands, transactions, and persistence are handled separately from single-shard operations. Its own SDK and CLI add tables, migrations, and gateway authentication on top of the RESP compatibility layer.

It is written in Rust and released under the MIT license.
