m-gpux

A CLI that turns a project folder into a GPU dev box, Jupyter session, hosted web app or LLM endpoint on Modal, showing the price per hour before anything starts.

m-gpux

m-gpux is a command-line tool for working on Modal GPUs. Running dev up inside a project folder picks an account and a GPU and puts the folder on a remote box reachable over ssh or VS Code Remote-SSH; dev pause snapshots the whole box, including installed packages and files, so work can resume later without paying for idle compute. A guided wizard (hub) can instead launch Jupyter, a script run, a browser terminal or vLLM on any GPU.

It wraps Modal's Sandboxes, Functions, Servers, Volumes and named Images into workflows for dev boxes, hosting, model serving and Docker Compose deployments, prices every GPU from T4 through H100, H200, B200 and B300 up front, and supports several Modal accounts at once with per-account monthly budget caps. A companion VS Code extension exposes the same accounts, sessions and wizards in a sidebar.

It installs with pip, which also installs the modal CLI it drives.

A VRAM-aware GPU job scheduler for a single machine: declare how much memory each shell command needs, and it places jobs the moment a GPU has room and reports when a guess was wrong.
