# mcpc

A universal command-line client for the Model Context Protocol that maps every MCP operation to a shell command, giving an AI agent full MCP access through a single Bash tool call.

mcpc is a command-line client for the Model Context Protocol that maps every MCP operation, tools, prompts, resources, async tasks, skills, notifications and logging, over both stdio and Streamable HTTP, to an intuitive shell command. It is meant for manually inspecting and debugging MCP servers, scripting repeatable MCP workflows in plain shell, or giving an AI agent the full protocol through a single Bash() tool call so it can drive any MCP server through the command line it already understands.

It keeps persistent sessions to multiple servers alive in parallel regardless of whether a server's protocol is stateful or stateless, supports progressive tool discovery to save tokens, and produces JSON output that composes with jq, xargs and shell pipelines. Security features include full OAuth 2.1 support with client ID metadata documents and dynamic client registration, OS keychain credential storage, and a proxy mode that shields credentials from AI-generated code.

It has minimal dependencies, runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, does not use an LLM itself, and includes experimental support for the x402 agentic-payments protocol on Base.
