Nanobot - Build MCP Agents

Nanobot enables building agents with MCP and MCP-UI by acting as a standalone, open-source MCP host, the service that combines MCP servers with an LLM and context to present an agent experience such as chat, though the interface could also be voice, SMS, email, or a platform like Slack.

Agents and MCP servers are configured either through a single nanobot.yaml file or a directory of markdown agent files, and Nanobot supports OpenAI and Anthropic models selected automatically from the configured model name. Example configurations included in the repository show a blackjack game, a Hugging Face MCP integration, and a shopping and Shopify example.

It installs through Homebrew and is now in maintenance mode: external pull requests and issues are disabled, and its MCP client, proxy, and multiplexer role is being replaced by the official MCP Go SDK and a successor project.
