# NovaStelo

A block-style, Scratch-inspired programming environment for building multi-agent simulations, built on Pharo Smalltalk, where agents such as turtles or termites follow simple rules that produce emergent behaviour, in the StarLogo tradition.

NovaStelo is a block-style programming environment for building multi-agent systems, inspired by StarLogo and MIT's Scratch, and specifically by the StarLogo material in the book Turtles, Termites, and Traffic Jams and by Scratch 1.4. It lets a user assemble programs from blocks to control populations of simple agents, such as turtles or termites, whose individual rules produce emergent group behaviour like flocking or foraging.

It is built on Pharo Smalltalk, with its model and interface rewritten using the Spec2 UI framework. Included examples cover Conway's Game of Life, a turtle ecology simulation, a termite simulation and a Gray-Scott reaction-diffusion model.

It installs as a prebuilt Windows release, or as a Metacello baseline loaded directly into a Pharo image from its GitHub repository; project files are not guaranteed compatible across versions, so saved scripts should be exported before upgrading.
