Olares

An open-source personal cloud operating system, built on Kubernetes, for running AI agents and LLMs on hardware a person owns and controls in plain language.

Olares

Olares turns a person's own machines into a self-hosted AI platform reachable from any browser, giving compute, storage, networking and apps to individuals or small teams. It runs agents such as OpenClaw with local LLMs while keeping files, messages and history off third-party servers.

Its features include one-click install of open-source AI apps and models from an Olares Market; pooled GPU and accelerator management across nodes with time-slicing, memory-slicing and exclusive modes; a Files app covering local, synced, cloud and SMB/NFS storage with backups; a private VPN, reverse proxy and public, private or internal entrances for HTTPS access without manually exposing ports; anywhere access through an Olares ID; and a bundled Files, Vault, Market, Dashboard and Control Hub.

It installs on a Linux host, bare metal or VM, with separate methods for Windows, macOS and Raspberry Pi; the Linux script needs at least 4 CPU cores, 8GB of RAM and 150GB of SSD storage. It is written in Go and licensed under AGPL-3.0.

  • Drop

    droprun.sh

A rootless Linux sandbox for developers, built on user namespaces with optional gVisor isolation, that confines coding agents and third-party packages without leaving your normal work environment.

  • minienv

    github.com

Reads an existing docker compose file and deploys it as a remote preview environment with little setup, with optional public endpoints and authentication so others can review in-flight work.

  • Rig

    npmjs.com

Gives each coding agent, such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex, its own cloud Linux desktop with a running dev server, tests and a signed-in Chrome, so the developer's laptop stays free while several agents work at once.
