# OpenHands Agent Canvas

A self-hosted control center for running and automating coding agents such as OpenHands, Claude Code, Codex and Gemini across local, remote and cloud backends, with automations that connect to tools like Slack, GitHub and Linear.

OpenHands Agent Canvas is a self-hosted developer control center for starting conversations with coding agents and automating everyday tasks, such as generating reports that post to Slack or breaking a GitHub issue into tasks. It runs the open-source OpenHands agent by default but can also run any other agent that supports the Agent-Client Protocol, including Claude Code, Codex and Gemini.

It runs locally by default and can connect to multiple agent backends, such as Docker containers, virtual machines or company infrastructure, or to OpenHands Cloud or OpenHands Enterprise, switching between backends from the same frontend without losing focus. Automations integrate with services such as Slack, GitHub, Notion and Linear, and can run on a schedule or in response to webhook events, working with any large language model the user chooses to bring.

It installs with npm and a local Node.js and uv setup, running directly on the host machine or inside a Docker sandbox, and is written in TypeScript under the MIT license.
