OpenSpec

OpenSpec is a spec-driven development framework for AI coding assistants: it captures requirements and scenarios as plain Markdown specs that an agent turns into a reviewable plan before writing code.

OpenSpec

A user's AI agent is invoked with commands such as one that proposes a change or one that first explores options with no commitment yet, producing specs written as plain Markdown requirements with concrete scenarios rather than a special syntax, stored in a specs folder alongside in-flight changes. A human reviews the plan before any code is written.

A newer, beta "Stores" feature lets a team keep planning specs in a repository of their own, shared by an ordinary git push, so a feature spanning several codebases, or requirements owned by one team and read by others, has one shared source of truth reachable by every coding agent involved.

Installs as a global CLI; requires Node.js 20.19 or newer. TypeScript, MIT licensed.

  • Provenance gate

    github.com

A deterministic authorization gateway that sits between an AI agent and its tools, tracing where each parameter of a side-effect call came from, and blocking the call or asking a human when the source does not check out.

  • A markdown framework of system rules that restates Isaac Asimov's Four Laws of Robotics as a set of prioritized loss calculations for large-language-model agents to follow, published as a discovery file for agents and crawlers to read.

  • Vitruvius

    github.com

An engineering research agent that runs a discover, read, synthesize, verify and review loop over technical questions, reading sources directly rather than inferring from titles, and publishing its own scored verifier benchmark, weaknesses included.
