OpenWA

A self-hosted, open-source WhatsApp API gateway with a pluggable architecture for its database, storage, and cache backends, and session- and chat-scoped API keys.

OpenWA

OpenWA is a self-hosted gateway that exposes the WhatsApp Web protocol as an API and webhook interface. Its pluggable architecture lets an operator choose a database engine such as SQLite or PostgreSQL, a backup and migration storage backend such as local disk or S3, and an optional Redis cache layer through configuration rather than code changes. Message media is returned inline to API and webhook consumers rather than stored automatically.

It supports multiple concurrent WhatsApp sessions from one instance, a dashboard for managing sessions and webhooks, and API keys that can be scoped to specific sessions or specific chats, so an integration only sees the sessions or conversations it needs.

It is written in TypeScript and released under the MIT license.
