# Pinecone Rust SDK

The official Rust client for the Pinecone vector database, covering index creation, including serverless indexes, and configuration through either explicit options or environment variables.

Pinecone Rust SDK is the official Rust client for Pinecone, giving a Rust application a PineconeClient entry point for creating and managing indexes, including serverless indexes in a chosen cloud region. It can be configured either by constructing a configuration struct with an explicit API key and control-plane host, or through a default client helper that reads the API key and, optionally, the control-plane host from environment variables.

It installs as a crate from crates.io and requires a Pinecone account and API key from the Pinecone console. The project labels itself alpha software, functional but still subject to breaking changes as its authors continue improving the developer experience, and directs users to Pinecone's separate documentation site for further detail.
