Playwright

A framework for automating and testing Chromium, Firefox and WebKit through a single API, used for end-to-end tests, scripts and as a tool for AI agents.

Playwright

Playwright is a framework for web automation and testing that drives Chromium, Firefox and WebKit through one API, for use in tests, scripts and AI agent tools. It is offered in several forms: Playwright Test, a full end-to-end test runner with browser isolation, auto-waiting and web-first assertions; a Playwright CLI aimed at coding agents such as Claude Code and Copilot; Playwright MCP for AI agents and LLM-driven automation; a lower-level Playwright Library for browser automation scripts; and a VS Code extension for authoring and debugging tests.

Tests run in parallel across configured browsers, headless by default, with each test isolated in its own browser context. Locators find elements the way a user would, for example by role, label or placeholder, and assertions retry automatically until their condition is met. Execution traces, screenshots and videos can be captured on failure and inspected in a trace viewer.
