pREST

A production-ready REST and Model Context Protocol API layer for an existing or new PostgreSQL database, adding CRUD, custom SQL routes, authentication, and access control without writing backend code.

pREST

pREST turns a PostgreSQL database into an instant REST API and a read-only MCP endpoint, so AI clients such as Cursor or Claude can query it as a tool. It supports CRUD operations, custom SQL routes, authentication, and access-control lists, and is installed with Docker, Homebrew, or the Go toolchain, then pointed at an existing database connection string.

Values interpolated into a query script template are screened for characters such as quotes or SQL keywords and rejected if they look unsafe, while values passed through its bind helpers travel to Postgres out of band and are never parsed as SQL, which the documentation recommends for anything user-supplied.

It is written in Go and released under the MIT license.
